Hypertension Awareness & Prevention Program by NMC Healthcare
In an effort to raise awareness about Hypertension- “the silent killer”, NMC Medical Center Sharjah, organized a health awareness lectures for the employees of Pertofac.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Srinivasa Rao (MBBS, MD), Internist from NMC Medical Center Sharjah, said “keeping BP under control is very important, left untreated, high blood pressure raises the risk for heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, and other conditions. Prevention is the best defense, but lifestyle changes and medications can help to maintain the blood pressure to a healthy level”
As per a report in local newspaper – around 36.6 %of the population suffers from hypertension and one in two deaths in the UAE is caused by cardiovascular diseases.
NMC Medical Center Sharjah, offered the medical and educational support including free health screening programs like glucose test, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI).
The program was conducted at the head office of Petrofac in Sharjah and more than 125 employees of Petrofac got benefited from the program.
