A resident of Al Ain for the past 12 years visited NMC specialty Hospital, Al Ain earlier in November 2011 with pain and swelling at scapular region (left upper back) measuring over 7.5cm x 10cm. After initial investigations, Dr Pawan Padamnath, MBBS, MS, MCH (UK), Head of Department, Orthopedics, advised for series of test to confirm the growth, but unfortunately the patient went out for local treatment and was absent for follow-up since then.
But earlier this month, the patient visited NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain with severe pain, unable to walk, giddiness and carrying a huge mass on his upper back insisting the doctor to provide him relief out of his acute suffering.
On re-investigation, Dr. Pawan Padamnath found that the tumor had already grown up to the size of 20 x 24 cm externally. Since the patient was under tremendous pain, a committee was formed under the leadership of Dr. Pawan Padamnath and supported by Radiologist and Cardiac Surgeon. The patient was successfully operated and now the patient is recovering well and will be discharged shortly.
