been named after New Medical Centre
(NMC), few can dispute the fact that
the UAE Exchange, the financial service

The focus was on anti-smoking, and the session and subsequent health check was well-attended.
Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh, Executive Vice President- Human Resources, Etisalat, said: “We coordinated with NMC to bring this campaign to show our support for employees and to spread awareness about the hazards of smoking and the importance of regular health checks. Employees attended a lecture about smoking and its harmful effects and the NMC team conducted a medical test for attendees.”
Dr. Shanze Bukhari, Medical Services Coordinator at New Medical Centre, and the lecturer at the presentation in Etisalat, said: “The response we got from smokers in Etisalat was good. Further to the decision to quit, the quitter can also benefit from a medical, a psychiatric and a holistic method to aid quitting. We were able to portray how smoking is not only harmful to the smoker but also to those surrounding them, especially in an office environment. It is good to see Corporations taking the initiative for the benefit of their employees, and we hope to see many more of this nature within Etisalat as well as in other companies.”

Open Heart Surgery performed at NMC Specialty Hospital Dubai

The first beating heart (off pump)
triple vessel bypass surgery was
performed at the NMC Specialty
Hospital, Dubai by a team of doctors
led by Cardiac Thoracic Surgeon, Dr.
Girish Chandra Varma. This is the first
such operation at the newly opened NMC
Specialty Hospital in the Open Heart
Surgery field.
Patient was diabetic, hypertensive
with critical blocks in all the main
coronary arteries. On 29th May 2005 the
operation started at 10 AM in the
morning and all the 3 critical blocks
were bypassed. This operation was
performed beating heart by using an
OCTOPUS STABILIZER. The patient has
made an uneventful post operative
recovery and is shifted to the Ward.
