CARDIOLOGY
The Department takes care of congenital and acquired cardiac problems and has a
non-invasive laboratory with facilities for Colour- Doppler, Echocardiography, Stress
Test, Holter Monitoring and Ambulatory BP monitoring.
Computerized stress testing
This test helps in planning further treatment for patients who have had a heart attack or
a bypass surgery. It also detects and estimates the risk of cardiac-arrhythmia.
Colour Doppler Echocardiography
It is a painless, non-invasive test, without any health hazards. It detects the presence
of holes in the heart, obstruction or leakage of heart valves and 'murmurs' of the heart
in children and is ideal for pregnant women who cannot be exposed to X-rays.
24 hour Ambulatory Electrocardiographic Monitoring (ECG Holter Monitoring)
It is particularly effective for patients who experience cardiac symptoms while working or
sleeping, but are deceptively normal at the physician's clinic. The patient wears a
miniature ECG machine for 24 hours and is expected to follow the daily routine of work,
except bathing. The ECG's are recorded continuously and the readings analyzed.

Radiology
Equipped with the latest, state-of-the-art equipment for quick and correct diagnosis, the
Department is open 24 hours and is staffed by experienced and well-qualified Radiologists
and Radiographers, with female technicians catering to female patients. Imaging modalities
cover the most crucial medical procedures and investigations including:
Conventional X-ray units with CR system
Apart from routine X-rays, special procedures include:
· Barium swallow meal and enemas (Double Contrast)
· Enteroclysis or small bowel enema
· Excretory urogram / I.V.P.
· Cysto-urethrogram
· Hystero-salpingogram (HSG)
· Parotid Sialography
· Myelogram
CR System, by virtue of its digital imaging capabilities, archiving and networking of
X-ray images is made possible.
Mammography
This is an excellent imaging modality for screening of breast cancer, which can be picked
up early. In fact, even before the patient develops complaints or symptoms. It is ideal
for patients who are 40 years and above, as in this age group incidence of breast cancer
is increased.
Multi Probe Ultrasound Scanners
High resolution, ultrasound systems with multiple probes and colour flow mapping (Doppler)
capabilities, help undertake ultrasound studies including:
· Routine abdomino-pelvic sonography
· Obstetric and Gynaecological scans
· Small parts scanning for thyroid, testis, breasts, etc.
· Neurosonography
· Colour Doppler studies
· Trans-vaginal sonography for pelvic scanning and ovulation studies
· Trans-rectal sonography for prostate etc.
OPG (Panoramic X-ray), Cephalometry and Dental X-rays
The Orthopantomography (OPG) machine screens panoramic views of the teeth, jaws and
sinuses. It has special features to X-ray portions of the jaw, in order to reduce the
radiation dose to patients, particularly children. The machine also provides excellent
pictures of the face and underlying bone, which is of great help for Plastic and
Reconstruction surgery.
MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a new and innovative method of obtaining exceptional
sectional images of the human body, thereby helping to make the diagnosis of abnormalities
with accuracy. It easily differentiates between healthy and diseased tissue and does not
expose the body to the harmful effects of X-rays.

The Gyroscan Panorama Open MRI system acquired by the hospital is the first of its kind
in the UAE.
An 'open' MRI completely eliminates patient claustrophobia and offers greater image
detail. The fear of being 'closed' - which many patients suffer from, is therefore
removed, making the MRI extremely user-friendly. Not surprisingly, while doctors
conveniently receive the information required for an accurate diagnosis, the patient stays
relaxed.
The Gyroscan Panorama Open MRI system is better than other MRI machines simply because it
offers the five 'C':
· Competent imaging
· Convenient open environment
· Coils with phased array
· Comprehensive imaging technique
· Claustrophobic patients are made to feel at ease
