ISO 9001:2000
The commitment of the NMC Specialty Hospital, Abu Dhabi towards emphasis on quality
of service has been recognized with the hospital obtaining the prestigious ISO 9001:2000
Certificate. Given for "Healthcare management of multidisciplinary hospital in Abu
Dhabi with super specialty services"; this international certification rightfully
places the hospital on par with the best and reflects both the skill and commitment of the
hospital personnel.
Middle East External Quality Control Scheme
The NMC laboratory also participates in the Middle East External Quality Control Scheme
(MEEQAS) for clinical chemistry regularly. This helps to maintain the up to date standard
of the tests conducted in the laboratory. Besides, the lab also carries out day-to-day
internal quality control measures using standard controls for haematology, immunology and
Hormonal Assays.
Waste Management
Medical wastes are disposed in heavy duty (400 G) yellow polythene bags provided by the
waste management contractors. These are transferred to the central medical waste
collection point and deposited in containers supplied by the contractors, approved by Abu
Dhabi Municipality for this purpose. The contractors then remove these bags from the
collection point and send them for incineration.
